Mark O’Neill (35), an Irish tourist, has been missing since last Friday, when he walked out of his room at the Manuela Hotel complex in the Aegean resort town of Bodrum. O’Neill was holidaying with his brother Brian (37) and Brian’s wife, Denise (32). He was due to fly home with the couple on Saturday. His family formally reported him missing on Saturday evening after 24 hours passed following his disappearance. His father, Dermot, and older brother Paul flew to Turkey over the weekend after hearing of the situation, while his sisters, Sharon and Elaine, sister-in-law Mary and mother, Eileen, have stayed in Dublin in case he attempts to call home, the Ireland-based news portal www.herald.ie reported.

Philip Grant, the first secretary of the Irish Embassy in Ankara, told Today’s Zaman yesterday that despite searches by his family, police and hotel staff, there have been no definite sightings of O’Neill in the six days since he vanished. As of yesterday, a staff member from the embassy was in Bodrum to assist the family.
